Dear Africana Woman,
Every day I try to write a post that will be two paragraphs long. And every day I fail. Even when I think I have nought to say, apparently, I have motor fingers. This weekend my friend circle decided to share our wins. A win is something you are grateful for and want to celebrate. The problem with wins is that people tend to think that a win has to be a grandiose thing. You really shouldn’t. A win is unique to you no matter what it is. So, don’t look at the next person and think, “Oh but hers is better, so I cannot share mine.”
The beauty of sharing wins amongst true friends or in a safe space, is that in those moments when you cannot find a win, the people around you will tell you what they have seen as your wins. It is such a beautiful thing when people around you can call out the greatness in you. The other important thing that I love when you share your wins is that everyone celebrates you. Sometimes, we are out here doing business, kicking ass in our careers, being amaze ball mothers but it can seem so lonely. So when your people get super excited for you and cheer you on, and celebrate you, and validate you and all of those warm things, it literally sparks you with energy to keep going.
Highly recommend you try this at home, with your Friend Circle. Well for some it’s their Family Circle. Everyone should participate.
So here are some of my wins.
1. I got a puppy in April. I have never had a pet in my life so I was scared I would break him. But guess what he is still alive.
2. I spoke to 2 of the most incredible women who are pioneers in their industries
3. I get out of bed every day – this one is my biggest one
