Africana Woman Nominated Twice in International Awards Show

Kabwe, Central Province, – Africana Woman, an internationally award-winning podcast, has been nominated for two African Podcast and Voice Awards, namely Health & Wellness and Society & Culture.


The APVA Awards are the premier event for recognising the outstanding work of African podcasters, spoken-word artists, and voice actors. The primary goal of Africa Podcast and Voice Awards is to discover, amplify, and celebrate the African voice. This is the second instalment of the Awards.


From the 10th to 30th July, 2023 voting is open. The public can support their favourite African podcasts by casting their votes at https://awards.apva.africa/vote-now/. Thereafter, the APVA Awards will be celebrated on 23rd September, 2023.


In 2022, the Africana Woman podcast was also nominated for the categories of Social Change & Advocacy and Society & Culture. It went on to win the best Society & Culture podcast.


Founded in September, 2020, the Africana Woman podcast now boasts over 116 episodes in 4 seasons. The podcast has featured over 92 guests from 20 different nationalities. The show prides itself on telling authentic stories that centre the African woman. Recently the podcast went on a highly successful tour across Zambia where all three cities sold out.


"As a Zambian podcaster, I am especially proud to see the increase of Zambian nominees from 5 in 2022 to 16 in 2023. This is a testament to the steadily growing creative industry in our country," said Chulu Chansa, the host of the show. Chulu looks forward to celebrating the APVA Awards at a Watch Party hosted in Lusaka by the Zambian Podcasters Hub.
